Recruitment Reimagined A Fresh Perspective on the Private School Faculty Pipeline

Description: As a department chair and then Dean of Studies in an independent high school, I have had a driver’s side view of the rapidly shifting landscape of the hiring process over the past ten years. The period now coined as the “Great Resignation” spurred on by the pandemic only accelerated the massive and growing teacher shortage. There is no data indicating that we will have more formally trained teachers entering the workforce in the next ten years. To the contrary, all data points to the opposite. Supply will not come close to meeting demand.
